A police chase in central Miami-Dade County on Thursday morning ended up with a shot fired and several people arrested in a stolen car.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. in near Northwest 10th Avenue and 79th Street, said Detective Chris Thomas, a Miami-Dade police spokesman.

Officers saw a man driving what turned out to be a stolen car, and a brief chase followed when they tried to pull the driver over, according to a police source.

During the chase, an officer fired his or her weapon, but the reason for that was not immediately clear, the source said. The shot was “non-contact,” according to the source, meaning it did not hit anyone.

The driver of the car eventually stopped and several people were arrested.

This developing story will be updated as more information becomes available.
