Jimmy Buffett was back on stage “Come Monday”.

The singer, 76, made a surprise appearance this weekend at his friend Mac McAnally’s concert at a Rhode Island waterfront bar, less than two months after being hospitalized with health issues.

A viewer posted a video of the Sunset Cove event on Facebook, showing McAnally — a longtime member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band — singing a rendition of Alan Jackson’s “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” He arrived at the song’s bridge and changed the lyrics to announce Buffett’s arrival with, “At a time like this, I can’t help but wonder what Jimmy Buffett would do?”

“I’ll come play for you,” the “Margaritaville” singer could be heard saying after taking the stage to a waiting microphone. Several audience members stood up and cheered him on as he grabbed a guitar and started singing the duet song with McAnally.

“Well, it’s good to see an audience, let me tell you,” Buffett told the cheering crowd after the performance.

The “Cheeseburger in Paradise” rocker previously shared a letter to fans on Twitter in May that he had been admitted to the hospital after a check-up “to resolve some issues that required immediate attention” and that he would have to postpone an upcoming show in Charleston, South Carolina.

Buffett, who was scheduled to perform at Credit One Stadium this weekend with his Coral Reefer Band, wrote: “Two days ago I had just returned from a trip to the Bahamas, thawing out of the ‘winter tour’ in California and biting into the bit to get to Charleston. I had to stop in Boston for a checkup, but ended up in the hospital dealing with some issues that needed immediate attention.”

“Getting older is not for sissies, I promise you that,” Buffett continued. “I also promise you that when I’m good enough to play, that’s what I’ll do in Crab Soup Land. You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilling than I ever imagined as a [tow] with the head of a little boy sitting on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico.”

Buffett concluded his note by thanking his fans for their thoughts, prayers and loyalty over the years, and ended it by writing, “Remember, ‘NOT AGAIN!'”

A few days later, Buffett updated fans to let them know he was on the road to recovery with a fishing trip with old friends. He said he would also go boating and sailing to “get back in shape.”

Buffett said once he feels better, he will begin the process of scheduling the shows. “I think acting is as therapeutic for me as it is for the fans to listen and sing along to,” he wrote. “I can’t wait to announce a new date for Charleston as well as new shows! Finished!”
