Authorities searching for Bergenfield man accused of attempted murder; seek public’s help

Authorities are searching for a fugitive they claim shot a 20-year-old woman inside his home on Sunday in an alleged attempt on her life, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, who is asking the public for information that could lead to the suspect’s capture.

Prosecutors issued a warrant for the arrest of Aaron Sierra, 22, of Bergenfield, charging him with attempted murder, receiving stolen property, obstruction of justice and weapons offenses in relation to the allegedly botched killing.

Sierra was most recently known to have been in upstate New York, prosecutors said. Although Musella seeks the public’s assistance, he cautioned that Sierra should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

Police responded to Sierra’s North Taylor Street residence Sunday evening after receiving reports of gunfire, and discovered the victim inside with no sign of her attacker, prosecutors said.

She was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center and by Thursday night was in stable condition.

Prosecutors did not detail what led them to implicate Sierra in the alleged assault, and a spokesperson for Musella’s office declined to reveal whether he knew his victim.

Musella urges anyone with information regarding Sierra’s whereabouts to call the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office at (201) 226-5532.
