CMPD investigating homicide after man was fatally shot in south Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives are investigating a homicide in south Charlotte after a man was fatally shot on Sunday morning.

The investigation takes place along Atkins Circle Drive. Officers responded to the shooting shortly after 4:30 a.m. and found the victim with gunshot wounds.

The victim was later identified as Reginald Averi Gilkesson, 29, according to police.
