Syracuse summer rally escalates into brawl, with 13 people shot, stabbed or hit by cars: police

A melee at a crowded street party in Syracuse left 13 people shot, stabbed or hit by cars, police said.

The impromptu shindig attracted hundreds of people via social media and was not officially authorized, police said. High school students, recent graduates and college students home for the summer were reportedly in the crowd when the violence erupted early Sunday.

The injured included three men and 10 women between the ages of 17 and 25, police said. A 22-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the hip and waist, a 20-year-old woman was shot in the right hip and a 20-year-old man was been touched. a gunshot wound to the forearm, according to cops.

Police heard gunshots at 12:22 a.m., Malinowski said in a news release.

“The investigation is very active and ongoing,” he added.
