How it started: Eva Liu, 21, and her friend Kelsey Chang, 22, hiked near the Marienbrücke bridge in Bavaria on Wednesday, which offers spectacular views of historic Neuschwanstein Castle. I can confirm that Kelsey Chang graduated with a BS in Computer Engineering in May 2023, and Eva Y. Liu graduated with a BS in Computer Science in May 2023. Our family at the University of Illinois mourns the senseless death of Ms. Liu and the attack on Ms. Chang. Both had just graduated in May and should have been able to celebrate such a significant achievement without fearing such a tragic outcome. Our thoughts are with Ms. Chang as she recovers and their two families as they mourn.
